  • Have you heard about the Spay Montgomery program?  Spay Montgomery is a new program that enables qualified Montgomery County residents to have their pets spayed or neutered for $10.  To be eligible, residents must be Montgomery County residents and meet one of the following criteria:
    1.  Aged 65 years or older - identification required.
    2.  A full-time college student - current college schedule required.
    3.  A Medicaid recipient - valid Medicaid card required.
    4.  A annual household income of $28,000 or less - proof of income required.
The $10 fee includes everything - the surgical sterilization procedure, anesthesia, pain management medications, and rabies vaccination, if needed.  This program is limited to two pets per household and will run while funds are available.  At this time, this program is only available to Montgomery County residents.

The Spay Montgomery program is the result of an incredible grant provided to the Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic.  The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic is Alabama's first high quality, high volume, low cost spay/neuter clinic.  We opened in October 2007 with the primary focus of reducing the number of unwanted animals that are euthanized in central and south Alabama by providing affordable surgical sterilizations of cats and dogs.  Since opening we have performed more than 11,000 surgeries.  Based on statistics from the Humane Society of the United States, we estimate that we have prevented more than 160,000 unwanted animals from being born in the year and a half we have been in operation.

The Alabama Animal Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization that works closely with the Montgomery Humane Society, Humane Society of Elmore County, various rescue groups, and thousands of Alabama residents.  Knowing that you are an animal lover, I was hoping that you might be willing to help us spread the word about this new program that is saving lives by preventing unwanted animals from being born.
