ALABAMA HUMANE FEDERATION RECOMMENDED MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR THE HOUSING, CARE AND ADOPTION OF COMPANION ANIMALS
Alabama is one of several states that do not have minimum standards of care defined in law. As a result, many complaints concerning the conditions in which animals are kept may be difficult to resolve. The Alabama Humane Federation developed a committee to draft minimum standards to offer as a RECOMMENDTION. This is not proposed legislation, but rather an agreed upon criteria developed and promoted by the AHF.
The AHF recognizes that different levels of care of animals exist in many different situations and the standards suggested are put forth in the hope that eventually there will be a legally recognized minimum standard in Alabama. In the meantime, the suggested standards may help to improve the quality of care of companion animals. |
